Esperanto is an easy language to learn, if not the easiest. People can reach fluency in Esperanto in about a year, but we have found that it can be done in less — some respondents to our survey cited reaching proficiency in 6 weeks!
Esperanto is a great foundation for learning other languages, as it is a platform to learn the building blocks of language. After learning Esperanto, many people have found that learning other languages to be less difficult.
The Esperanto community is incredibly open and accepting, rich with some of the friendliest and happiest people you will ever meet. It is a wonderful way to meet and befriend new people from all over the world.
If you are interested in learning Esperanto, there are many digital resources available. Lernu! is a free, multilingual online resource meant to teach people Esperanto. Duolingo is a language learning platform available through Google Play and the Apple App Store as well as online. Additionally, there are large communities of Esperantists on a number of social media platforms, most notably Reddit and Facebook, where you may practice Esperanto with other speakers.
