Today was the day for the Esperanto Soccer Team’s second match ever! The Esperanto soccer team is a member of the non-FIFA league and players hail from all over the world — from Argentina to East Timor. In this match, the players faced the Western Sahara team as a part of the Zamenhof Cup.
At the conference, our most important goal was to facilitate interviews with Esperantists from all over the world. We accumulated over 15 hours of interviews over the course of the congress from people almost every continent. Through these interviews, we hoped to document contemporary Esperanto speakers, preserve their stories, and gather insight into what it means it to speak Esperanto in today’s world.
Today we have arrived in Lille in order to participate in the 100th World Esperanto Congress. At the Congress, we hope to facilitate interviews with at least 20 different Esperantists, attend Esperanto classes sponsored by the Congress, film general events at the Congress, and participate in the Congress as much and as best as we can!
